Purple Knit Scarf with Triangle Drop Stitch

I based this triangular drop stitch on Liza’s purple dress in the Cabaret movie:

To get a light scarf I used the brand Caron Simply Soft. The color “Violet 9908″ looks like the dress color. I knit this for 2 hours using size 11 needles while watching the Brasil-Argentina Final.

• Knit 6 rows

• Row 7: a triangle drop stitch like this across the row: knit one stitch, yarn over twice, then knit last stitch

• Row 8: across the row knit one stitch, drop the 2 yarn overs off the needle and to the front

• Row 9: knit the first 3 stitches, with yarn in back slip 7 stitches purlwise, knit last 3 stitches

• Row 10: knit first 4 stitches, with yarn in front slip 5 stitches purlwise, bring yarn to back and knit last 4 stitches

• Row 11: knit first 5 stitches, with yarn in back slip 3 stitches purlwise, knit last 5 stitches

• Row 12: knit first 6 stitches, with yarn in front slip 1 stich purlwise, bring yarn to back and knit last 6 stitches

• Row 13: knit all stitches.  The 6-row triangle drop stitch ends here.

• Now you just knit 16 rows!

• Once you reach row 17, begin the triangle drop stitch again. Then, knit another 16 rows.  Repeat this until it’s as long as you want it.  I repeated 7 times the triangle drop stitch with the 16 row garter stitch for this scarf:

Since I knit many scarves at a time, I keep them on the plastic page holders used for binders.  I just add the yarn ball, the scarf, the 2 needles and put it in my knitting bag. How do you store the scarf and yarn you work on?
